Mosques follow a calculation convention, and there are several. Open Settings → Calculation method and pick the one used where you live; the Asr method (Standard or Hanafi) is there too. If a single prayer still differs by a minute or two, Manual adjustments lets you nudge each prayer.

• Check that notifications are allowed for Zaad in your phone's settings. The app's home screen shows a banner when they are off.
• On Android 12 and later, Alarms & reminders must also be allowed, or reminders can be delayed by several minutes. Settings shows this and asks for it.
• On iPhone, a Focus mode can silence apps. Zaad's prayer reminders are marked time-sensitive so they can break through, but a Focus can still be set to block them.
• Reminders are scheduled a few days ahead while the app is open. If the app has not been opened for over a week, open it once and the schedule refills.

Prayer times need coordinates, and they never leave your phone. If you would rather not grant location access, go to Settings → Enter coordinates manually and type your city's latitude and longitude. The app will use them until you change them.

The app calculates the date arithmetically; your country announces months by moon sighting, and the two can differ by a day. Settings → Hijri adjustment shifts the date by up to two days either way.

Move the phone in a figure of eight a few times to calibrate the compass, and keep it away from magnets and metal, including some phone cases. The bearing shown as a number is calculated from your coordinates and is always correct; the needle depends on the phone's sensor.

Each printed page uses its own font, downloaded a juz at a time when you first open it. By default that happens only on Wi‑Fi. Turn to the page while on Wi‑Fi, or change Settings → Automatic downloads. You can also download whole juz or the entire mushaf from Settings → Downloads.

Settings → Downloads shows what the page fonts, tafsir and recitation audio are using, and lets you delete each. Recitation audio is kept as you listen so it plays offline afterwards; it stops filling itself at about 1 GB.
